    2016 Ramadan Day of Service

WHAT: Ramadan Day of Service at the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma
    WHEN: Saturday June 25th, 2016 from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
LOCATION: Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, 3355 S Purdue Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73137

QUESTIONS: Call Anna Facci at 405-286-6009 ext. 3

Come join CAIR Oklahoma and the Oklahoma Muslim community as we reach out to the local community and give back by volunteering our time at the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. We will be packaging food during the fasting hours to help Oklahomans in need.

Anyone is welcome to join us at this event. However, there are only 190 volunteer spots available so be sure to reserve your space early!

Volunteers must be over the age of 8. Volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. If under the age of 18, make sure parental consent form is filled out (consent form available here).

Volunteers are truly the lifeblood of the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. Whether you are packing boxes of food that will end up on the kitchen table of a family struggling with hunger, tending a row of tomato plants that will end up in the salad bar at a Kids Café site for inner city children, or distributing bags of food to seniors living on fixed incomes, it all makes a difference in the lives of our Oklahoma neighbors.

Join us as we give back to the community and show that Oklahoma Muslims Care!

    USCMO CONDEMNS THE ORLANDO SHOOTING

(Washington, D.C., 6/12/2016) – The US Council of Muslim Organizations (USCMO), the largest coalition of leading national and local Muslim organizations, expresses its horror over the mass shooting which took place at a nightclub in Orlando, FL overnight, and offers its deepest and heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and prays for quick recovery for those who were injured.

The shooting, where over 50 were killed and at least the same number were injured, is an affront to all minorities. The USCMO stands firmly against all forms of violence committed against any group, regardless of religious affiliation, creed, color, or sexual orientation. “We condemn such heinous acts by individuals or groups who have no regard for the sanctity of human life” said Oussama Jammal, the secretary general of USCMO.

The right to live free from violence, harassment or intimidation is the most basic human right and must be defended unconditionally.

The USCMO urges the Muslim community in Orlando, Florida to step up to donate blood and to reach out to the injured and to the families of the victims
